From Surviving to Thriving: A Prescott Native’s Story of Hope and Healing
(Shared with permission)

Bailey, 27, was born and raised in Prescott. For much of her life, she carried the weight of depression and anxiety, relying on high doses of medication to manage the symptoms. “I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and I recommend ketamine so much for that; ketamine has helped me a lot. I was on 250mg of sertraline,” she shared. “I’d done regular therapy for a long time, EMDR twice, I’ve worked with a psychiatrist, I did intensive therapy twice a week for a year, yoga, natural supplements — all of it helped, but I still felt stuck.”

When a close family member told her about their own positive experience at WholeMind Healing Pathways, Bailey felt ready for a new approach. “I was going thru a lot of relationship and inner struggles at the time. I was really dependent on my medication and didn’t want to be anymore. I had done a lot of other therapy programs that really helped, but was at a plateau. This really helped me dive in deeper and help me grow.”

Her ketamine treatments opened a door she didn’t know existed. “I wish I had known how deep things can be — within yourself and the universe. My relationship with my mom completely changed. I feel like a priority to her, and we have a healthy relationship and connection. That healed my inner child in ways I didn’t think were possible.”

Bailey also found profound healing from loss. “I lost my beloved companion dog and my brother. Through my journeys, I’ve seen them. I’m so connected with them, and can feel them and converse with them. That grief — the pain and unknown — came back as comfort, light, and love.”

Since completing treatment, Bailey has fully stopped her medications and continues to thrive. “I used to internalize everything — the depression, the anxiety, the self-criticism. I had body dysmorphia and intrusive thoughts. Now, I can see them and work on correcting them. I don’t have to live up to an expectation that doesn’t exist.”

Today, she’s grounded in gratitude and possibility. She recently moved into a new home, reconnected deeply with her partner, and is planning travels abroad. “My relationship with my partner has really healed. We have grown together and have deep, connected conversations. The walls we had are gone, and there’s comfort now. I love Prescott. Prescott will always be my home base, but the world feels open to me. Now we are looking into extended travels together.”

When asked what she would tell someone considering ketamine treatment, Bailey said: “Do it. It’s more beautiful than words can express. Everything about you is lovable. Any time you have heard someone talk about art, a beautiful journey of growth and self-discovery, loving themselves., reconnecting with someone you lost ~ It’s all there. Don’t you want to go talk to that little girl inside you — the one who’s seen all the bad — and tell her that she’s worth it? I love all the versions of me now. I had done a lot of inner work, but this… this was different. I remembered who I am.”

Bailey received a scholarship through the WholeMind Foundation.

Her healing was made possible in part thanks to generous donations from our community. When you give to the WholeMind Foundation, you make stories like Bailey’s possible. Help our community heal, together, one person at a time. 100% of donations support scholarships.
