From Survival to Freedom: Jade’s Journey Back to Self
When Jade first came to WholeMind Healing Pathways, she described her life as being at the very bottom of a deep, dark pit—filled with despair, constant mental noise, and relentless inner criticism. Her mind felt like a prison, overwhelmed by rumination and survival mode after a year marked by instability, including leaving an abusive relationship and moving 13 times in just 7 months.
During her first ketamine session, something shifted.
For the first time in a long time, the noise went quiet.
She experienced what she described as “the magnificent gift of peace”—a sense of spaciousness in her mind that allowed her to finally breathe. In that stillness, her mind—once cluttered and overwhelmed—felt free to explore, like “a dog entering an empty room that had once been filled to the brim.” It was a profound moment of clarity and relief.
That experience became a turning point.
With continued care and integration support, Jade began to recognize a powerful internal choice: to focus on the noise, or to choose freedom. While the noise hasn’t completely disappeared, her relationship to it has transformed. She now notices it, and instead of being consumed by it, she actively chooses to return to a sense of peace.
Through her healing journey, she has started to rediscover joy in the simplest moments—watching her dog sit in the sun, feeling the breeze, noticing beauty where darkness once dominated. These small moments have become anchors, reminding her of what is possible.
She describes herself now as being on an “irreversible mission” toward freedom.
That mission has led to meaningful life changes—re-evaluating relationships, habits, environments, and even aspects of her spirituality. For the first time in years, she feels a pull back toward the parts of herself that had been lost in survival: creativity, movement, laughter, and joy.
“I want that me back,” she shared.
And she’s already beginning to find her.
With the support of her care team and ongoing integration, Jade is rebuilding her life with intention. She has secured stable housing, returned to work, and is actively creating a future that feels aligned and sustainable.
While she acknowledges she is still in progress, she now experiences something that once felt impossible: moments of pause, peace, and tranquility.
Jade’s journey is a powerful reminder that even after prolonged survival, healing is possible—and that within each person is the capacity to rediscover freedom.
